Ross E. Lilly, 72, of Jefferson died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at his residence with his family by his side, following a short illness.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Steve Jewett officiating. Burial will be at a later date in McCook Cemetery, North Sioux City, S.D. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Ross was born Jan. 4, 1939, in Westfield, Iowa, to Wallace and Petranella (Goede) Lilly. He grew up in the Westfield area and graduated from Westfield High School. He served in the Air National Guard.
Ross married Mary K. Rosburg on Jan. 11, 1969, in Sioux City. He farmed in the Jefferson, S.D., area for several years. He was a self-employed truck driver and then retired from trucking, after working for Gateway.
Ross enjoyed playing cribbage, fishing for catfish on his pontoon, camping, traveling throughout the United States and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Jefferson; a daughter, Karin Tevebaugh and her husband, Lloyd of Delaware, Okla.; two sons, Russ Lilly and his wife, Amy of Jefferson, and Charlie Lilly of Jefferson; two brothers, Doug Lilly and his wife, Nancy, and Gilbert Lilly and his wife, Peggy, all of Westfield, Iowa; and five grandchildren, David Lilly, Holly Tevebaugh, Schuyler, Dawson and Morgan Walchek.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Stanley Lilly.
