Raymond C. Lewis, 83, of Sioux City died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center following brief illness.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial of the ashes will be in Climbing Hill Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Mr. Lewis was born Nov. 14, 1923, in Sioux City, the son of Charles and Mary Beatrice (Tulk) Lewis. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.
He married Juanita Daniels on Aug. 3, 1946, in Sioux City. Juanita passed away June 24, 2004 in Sioux City. He drove a semi, hauling cattle and grain.
He was a longtime member of the American Legion. He enjoyed cleaning and taking care of his car, watching stock car races and spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda and Terry Noe of Lakin, Kan.; four grandchildren, Todd and Crystal Uhl of Sioux City, Lori Wells of Mesa, Ariz., Lisa and Dale Garrett of Lakin, Kan., and Kimberly Norby of Sioux City; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Schleis of Climbing Hill, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a great-grandchild; a brother; and two sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans.
