Marilyn V. Lenig, 56, of Sioux City died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a battle with cancer.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. The body will be cremated following the service Thursday. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Carmel Guild rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil service by Deacon Larry Sitzman at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Marilyn was born Feb. 8, 1951, in Laurens, Iowa, the daughter of Francis M. and Mary (Devereaux) Olberding. She graduated from Mallard High School in 1969 and Stewarts School of Hairstyling in 1970.
She married Loyd David Lenig on May 14, 1977, in Laurens, Iowa. She was a cosmetologist for Hair By Stewarts.
She loved quilting and cooking. Family was number one in her life. She enjoyed traveling and the highlight of her travels was a trip to Alaska. She was very dedicated to her clients and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a past member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member of the Carmelite Carmel Guild.
Survivors include her husband, David Lenig of Sioux City; a son, Aaron Lenig of Gladstone, Mo.; a daughter, Jana (Adam) Utech of Sioux City; a son Casey Lenig of Sioux City; a daughter, Katie Lenig (fiance, Chet Verschoor) of Hinton, Iowa; a stepson, Travis Lenig (fiancee, Erica Holt) of Colo, Iowa; five grandchildren, Amanda, Dylan and Joslyn Lenig, Jaiden and Ashlyn Utech; two sisters, Eileen Hanson of Linesville, Pa., and JoAnne (Dan) Miller of Hartley, Iowa; seven brothers, Bernard (Kathy) Olberding of Dunnell, Minn., Richard (Roxy) Olberding of Alexandria, Minn., Robert (Candy) Olberding of Powell, Wyo., Gene (Andrea) Olberding of Mallard, Iowa, Dean Olberding of Omaha, Donald (Michelle) Olberding of Juneau, Alaska, Francis (Lori) Olberding of Estherville, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marvin and James Olberding; and a niece, Sarah Kelly.
