Betty Jean Leibrich

Betty J. "Pats" Leibrich, 69, of North Sioux City died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in McCook Lake Cemetery, McCook Lake, S.D. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 6:45 p.m. and vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Betty Jean was born Dec. 30, 1936, in Kimball, S.D., the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Holzhauser) Krumvieda. She graduated from White Lake (S.D.) High School.

She married Gerald Leibrich on Jan. 19, 1955, in Mitchell, S.D. "Pats" was employed at Swift & Co. in the poultry department and also tended bar at Jim's I-29 Lounge until her retirement in 2001.

She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved cooking for her family, family gatherings and running a daycare for her grandchildren. Betty also enjoyed fishing for bullheads.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Gerald Leibrich of North Sioux City; seven daughters, Carla Leibrich of McCook Lake, Patricia (Clay) Torevell of North Sioux City, Mary Leibrich and Mike Cooper of North Sioux City, Lori Leibrich of Elk Point, S.D., Julie (Edward) Barrett of North Sioux City, Janet Lingle of McCook Lake and Jody Leibrich of North Sioux City; a son, James Leibrich of White Lake, S.D.; eight grandchildren, Chad Torevell, Melissa Torevell, Jeramie Barrett, Brent Lingle, Michael Torevell, Clayton Leibrich, Keith Lingle and Brandon Cooper; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alvin Krumvieda of North Sioux City and Richard and Russell Krumvieda, both of White Lake; four sisters, Carol Ann Markhardt of White Lake, Ella Mae Ross of Oconomoc, Wis., Lois Mathey of Lawton, Iowa and Marge Johnson of White Lake; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Terry Leibrich.
