Gary Alan Lebowich, 60, a native of Sioux City and most recently of Bear, Delaware, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, Delaware.
Gary was a member of Sioux City Central High School's class of 1964 and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1968. After college, Gary was a social studies teacher in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He then returned to the University of Iowa to study and begin a long career in labor/management relations. Over the course of more than thirty years, Gary held labor relations positions with various educational institutions and municipalities across the country, including Long Island University, California State University, UCLA, the City of Madison, Wisconsin, the City of Anchorage, Alaska, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska and the State of Delaware.
Gary married Bobi Lebowich on March 17, 1991. He is survived by Bobi, his parents, Grace and Ben Lebowich of Omaha, Nebraska; his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, Michael, Jenna, and Marina Lebowich; his step-children Dennis O'Neill, Terrance O'Neill, Margaret O'Neill Steinbach, and Susan O'Neill; his step-grandchildren, Siobhan, Christine, Caitlyn, Jessica, Jacqueline O'Neill, and Mickey Smith; and friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Roxann.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with Rabbi Guy Greene officiating. Burial will be in Independent Farane Cemetery.
