Sophia H. (McKnight) Leahy, 93, of Sioux City died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Countryside Senior Living after a bout with cancer.
Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Allan Reicks officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.
Sophia was born May 6, 1913, in Sioux City, the daughter of Tony and Helen (Coscinska) Ruchala. She graduated from East High School.
She married Frank McKnight. He died in 1968. She later married Ray Leahy. Ray died in 1985.
She was a lifelong Sioux City resident. She worked for the Sioux City Credit Bureau for many years.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Jerry and Shirley McKnight of Sioux City, Roger and Betty McKnight of Park Hill, Okla., and Paul and Judy McKnight of Le Mars, Iowa; a sister, Jeanette Wagner of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Kathy, Ron, Sandy, Lisa, Chris, Michelle and Leon; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and a sister, Marie Conway.
Pallbearers will be Keith, Michael and Brian Knight, Terry Schrank, Richard Hrasky and Michael Conway.
