Marcus G. Papke, 73, of Sioux City died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.
The body was cremated. There will be no local services. Graveside services will be Thursday, May 24, in Pughtown Baptist Cemetery, Pughtown, Pa. Arrangements in Sioux City are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Marcus was born Jan. 4, 1934, in Constantine, Mich., the son of John and Clara (Oldenburg) Papke. He served as a technical sergeant with the U.S. Air Force for 24 years, retiring in December 1975. He served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.
He married Shirley Hogan on Jan. 21, 1956, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 2006, in Sioux City. He was a resident of Sioux City.
He was a member of Pughtown Baptist Church, Pughtown, Pa.
Survivors include two daughters, Cecelia (Derek) Wilkinson of Pottstown, Pa., and Elizabeth (Wayne) Wiedman of Pottstown, Pa.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph, Harry and Roger Papke; three sisters, Myrtle Steele, Adela Rose and Shelia Rose-Hisey; two sisters-in-law, Linda Rogers and Beverly Brower; and a brother-in-law, Robert Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; and a sister, Helen Rosson.
