Goldie C. Lane, 98, of Sioux City passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Ida Grove City Cemetery, Ida Grove, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Mrs. Lane was born Nov. 18, 1909, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Albin and Anna (Swanson) Benson. She attended country school. She moved from the farm in 1934 with her family to Sioux City. She was a domestic housekeeper worker for 52 years, 40 of which, she worked for the same family.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, playing cards, especially 500 and traveling. She was a great Tiger Woods fan. She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her son, Donald J. Lane of Sioux City; grandchildren, James "Jim" and Debbie Lane, Brian and Susan Lee, Kim McHenry and Robert Moeller; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vincent and William Benson; three sisters, Ruth Benson, Margaret Rowe and Virginia Jensen; a daughter, Evangeline Moeller; and a daughter-in-law, Lillian Lane.
Pallbearers will be James "Jim" Lane, Keenan Lane, Mattie Lane, Brian Lane, Alexander Lee and Rebekah Lee.
Memorials may be given to Morningside Lutheran Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
