Bonnie L. Lake, 85, of Sioux City died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at Regency Square Care Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Third Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jennifer Santer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Lake, the former Bonnie Polley, was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Sioux City, where she attended Woodrow Wilson Junior High and Central High Schools. She graduated from Felt & Tarrant Comptometer School.
On Oct. 16, 1948, she married Daniel R. Lake. He died April 7, 1969. She worked in the office at Armour & Co. for nine years and at J.C. Penney Co. in Des Moines and Mason City, Iowa, as a bookkeeper. She was the bookkeeper and credit manager for 13 years at Standard Bearings Co. in Sioux City, retiring in 1985.
At Third Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Lake was an elder for three years. She also belonged to Lydia and Bethany Circle and the Girls of '68. She was a past member of D.A.R.'s Martha Washington Circle, where she served as both defense chairman and secretary. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star 502 and Iowa 898 Tops, where she was a leader for three years.
Over the years, Mrs. Lake was a member of the Amateur Organ Club, the A.M. Monday Golf Club at Sun Valley, Siouxland Senior Center and the National Association of Credit, where she was on the board of directors for six years. Mrs. Lake was also an accomplished piano player, playing piano at the U.S.O. in Sioux City during World War II. She was an avid Cubs fan.
Survivors include three children, Daniel and his wife, Lisa of Sioux City, Diane of Boston and Laura and her husband, Robert Milburn of Sioux City; a sister, Dorothy Ringsrud of Milledgeville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Kristine, Megan, Casey and Lindsay and her husband, Rik Zortman; and four great-grandchildren, Montgomery, Isabella, Jackson and Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and H.H. Polley; her husband, Dan; and her brother, Howard.
A memorial has been established in her name at Third Presbyterian Church.
