Delphine M. Kuehl

Delphine M. Kuehl, 83, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at her home from natural causes.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery following the funeral mass. Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 5 p.m. rosary recited by the Carmelite Guild and a 7 p.m. vigil service, with the Rev. William Vit Jr. officiating, at the church.

Delphine (O'Kane) Kuehl was born March 18, 1926, in Sioux City, to her parents, Daniel Alexander O'Kane and Sarah (Clancy) O'Kane.

Delphine married Robert R. "Bob" Kuehl on Aug. 2, 1945 in Sioux City. She was a Sioux City resident her entire life. She was a member of the Carmelite Board for 37 years and an active member of Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church for over 60 years. She was a member of the Square Knots, Blue Army and the Catholic Daughters.

Delphine loved to play cards and was in a bridge club for over 50 years. She loved to play pitch with her children and grandchildren. She could be found most weekends during the summer spending time in Lake Okoboji which she loved. Delphine enjoyed cooking, especially baking, and always made sure everyone had enough to eat. She would often say, "Thats what I made it for." She enjoyed helping the Carmelites whenever she could and she was an active supporter of Bishop Heelan Catholic High School. She loved her six children, her 18 grandchildren, and her nine great-grandchildren unconditionally. Above everything else her most favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family.

Survivors include: her daughter, Pam Crowe and husband, George of Omaha, Neb., and their three boys, Jim, Bob and T.J. Griggs; her son, Dan Kuehl, his wife, Ann of Sioux City, and their children, Liz Ulrich, Scott and Danielle Ulrich, Kerry and Dani Kuehl; her son, Patrick Kuehl, his wife, Joanie of Dakota Dunes, and their children, P.D., Nick and Gina Kuehl, Christopher and Daniel Kuehl; her son, Scott Kuehl, his wife, Debra Kuehl of Sioux City, and their children, Kelly, Stephen and Samantha Kuehl; her son, Robert Jr. "Robi," his wife, Kathy of Sioux City, and their children, Kristopher Goeden, Kane and Bobby Kuehl and Kelsey Rupert; and her youngest son, Matthew Kuehl of Sioux City; her brother-in-law, John Kuehl his wife, Pauline of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

Delphine was preceded in death by her father, Daniel O'Kane; her mother, Sarah (Clancy) O'Kane; her brother, Russell O'Kane; her husband, Robert (Bob) Kuehl; her sister, Rose Ann (Rosie) ONeill; and her grandson, Michael Kuehl.

Pallbearers will be P.D., Nick, Kelly, Kerry, Kane Kuehl and Bob Griggs. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher, Daniel, Stephen, Samantha, Dani and Bobby Kuehl, Liz and Scott Ulrich, Jim and T.J. Griggs, Kristopher Goeden and Kelsey Rupert.
