McCOOK LAKE, S.D. -- Marjorie L. Krier, 69, of McCook Lake died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Phillip Dicks officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Marjorie was born Dec. 26, 1941, in Diamond Township, south of Aurelia, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin and Ruby (Peterson) Galvin. She grew up in Quimby, Iowa, then attended beauty school in Sioux City.
Marjorie married Kendall Krier on Nov. 17, 1961, in Quimby. Marjorie lived in Sioux City from 1961 to 1989. From 1989 to 2008, she lived in Sikeston, Mo. She had been a resident of McCook Lake since 2008. Marjorie and Ken owned and operated Tri-State Grain Elevator Repair for 20 years.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include her husband and best friend of 49 years, Ken Krier of McCook Lake; two daughters, Julie Reeder and her husband, Ralph Reeder of Dakota Dunes and Jackie Pollow and her husband, Gene of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Nathan Reeder, Graham Reeder and his wife, Brenda, Ashley Mozak and her husband, Brant, Harrison Reeder, Nicholas Larsen, Emily Larsen, Taylor and Abby Pollow; two great-grandchildren, Kaden and William; two sisters, Virginia Husman and her husband, Calvin of Quimby and Mary Stratton of Ames, Iowa; and her mother-in-law, Cecile Krier of Sergeant Bluff.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Galvin; and her father-in-law, Martin Krier.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp High Hopes.
