Erwin E. Krabbenhoft Sr,

SIOUX CITY -- Erwin E. Krabbenhoft Sr., 81, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Erwin was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Emerson, Neb., to Paul and Alvina Krabbenhoft.

He married Edna Heintz on Oct. 9, 1953, in Sioux City. Edna passed away July 7, 2007, in Sioux City. He worked at Armour and Company as a meatpacker for 32 and a half years. After retiring, he worked for the city of Sioux City for 15 years in maintenance on parking ramps.

He was a very active and social person, who loved to listen to country western music. He enjoyed his morning coffee breaks with friends and loved to go fishing, travel and shop at the mall.

He is survived by a son, Erwin Krabbenhoft Jr. and his wife, Arlene of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two brothers, Roy Krabbenhoft and his wife, Phyllis of Minneapolis, and Arnie Krabbenhoft of Utah; four sisters, Paulin DeHoogh and her husband, Earl of Sioux Falls, Hilda George of Arizona, Mable Vaughn of Clinton, Md., and Olga Vaughn and her husband, Melvin of Clinton, Md.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.
