Katherine I. Kopsas, 76, of Sioux City, died Monday, January 25, 2010 at a local nursing home.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Ralph Shorey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Katherine I. Kopsas Grandma Katie was born the daughter of Jim and Bertha (Ethel) Jorgensen on December 11, 1933 in Sioux City, Iowa. Katherine was a lifelong resident of Sioux City, receiving her education in the Sioux City Public Schools and graduating from Central High. She married Basil Kopsas on October 18, 1952 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Basil passed away in June of 1990.
Katherine enjoyed playing cards, reading westerns, and embroidering. She loved to gamble at Argosy Casino. Katherine taught Sunday school for several years at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Katherine is survived by one daughter, Grace (Louis) Blunk of South Sioux City, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Billy Smith, Katherine Mays, and Jennie Blunk; 3 great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Nelson of Tacoma, Washington; and one cousin, Loucille Dyke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Basil, and three sisters, Lilian Ettinger, Josephine Steceher, and Sine Jorgensen.
