Larry A. Klemke, 65, of Sioux City entered into the arms of our Lord Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, with his loved ones at his side saying good-bye.
Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Don Wood officiating, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Larry was born Nov. 14, 1940, in Fremont, Neb., to Alvin and Velma (Wiehorst) Klemke. He went to school in Fremont. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran church in Fremont.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1957. He spent most of his time in France, where he met Bleuette Caron and they were married in France. The couple later divorced. He then married Jacqueline Demke.
He worked in many packing houses and rendering plants in the maintenance department as a first class boiler engineer. He owned and operated Larry's Place in Rodney, Iowa. Before retiring, he delivered auto parts for Western State.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his sense of humor, his love for woodcarving, his yard and home and his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Klemke of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Rodney and Cheryl Klemke of Sioux City; two daughters, Debbie and her husband, James Johnson of Sioux City and Tammy Zimmerman of Omaha; a stepson and his wife, Dominique and Connie Privett of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Rodney and Judy Klemke of Slaton, Texas; a sister and her husband, Barbara and Ronald Derby of South Sioux City; an aunt, Emma Alexander of Fort Morgan, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Christopher Zimmerman, Kayla Herrington, Emily Herrington, Kirsten Rojos, Jeremy Jaynes, Megan Lee, Ashley Johnson, Ian Klemke and Tara Felton; and five great-grandchildren, Tre'veon Herrington, Elijah Lee, Leila Lee, Alexandria Frey and Keira Klemke.
