John "Jack" H. Kivlighn

SIOUX CITY -- John "Jack" H. Kivlighn, 96, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at a local hospital.

Abiding by his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are to be scheduled. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements.

John was born on April 2, 1913, in Orleans, Neb., to John R. and Leona (Nelson) Kivlighn. John graduated from Orleans High School with the Class of 1930.

He married Pauline C. Craig on May 5, 1932, in Philipsburg, Kan. The family moved within Nebraska and Missouri before moving to Sioux City in 1944. He worked for 38 years at Swift & Company and retired in 1975 as a supervisor. Following his retirement, John enjoyed playing cards, fishing and traveling with his wife.

John is survived by his daughter, Joyce Davidson and her husband, Norman of Sioux City; son, Robert R. Kivlighn and his wife, Terry of Margate, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Ayette Kivlighn of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline in 2003; son, Dr. Michael Kivlighn; and grandson, Michael Kivlighn.
