SIOUX CITY -- Marilyn H. Kelly, 87, of Sioux City died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at Bickford Cottage.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Madden of First United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Marilyn was born July 18, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Dr. Ray and Mildred (Stark) Harrington. She came to Sioux City as a child and attended Sioux City schools. She graduated from East High School and attended Morningside College. She moved to Washington D.C. and worked there during World War II.
She married Joseph E. Kelly on May 12, 1943, in Washington D.C. He died Sept. 23, 1975 in Sioux City. Following their marriage, the couple returned to Sioux City. They both worked for Valley State Bank for many years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She had done volunteer work for Girls Inc. She was a member of the Sioux City Country Club and enjoyed playing golf. She had three holes-in-one on different holes at the Sioux City Country Club. she traveled extensively and enjoyed going to Hawaii. She also liked to read.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Carol Jo and Joe Grant of Sacramento, Calif., and Colleen and Carter Dennis of Sioux City; and three grandchildren, Melissa and her husband, Tyson Herbold, Cameron Grant and Mike Frankele.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Jim and Dean Harrington.
