Robert E. Keegan, 77, of Sioux City passed away July 29, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. James Bruch of St. Boniface Catholic Church officiating. The body will be cremated after the services per family wishes. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Robert was born Jan. 4, 1933 in Sioux City, to James John and Sevilla (Rancipher) Keegan. He graduated from Heelan High School in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Navy.

He married Elaine M. Loker on June 25, 1955, in Sioux City at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Robert was a route sales driver for Wonder Bread for 43 years.

He was a past member of the Rhythm Rogues and a past member of the Boys of 68 and Moose Lodge. In his free time, he loved to camp, watch racing and boxing. He also loved watching his grandsons play baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Sioux City; one son, Rob D. Keegan and wife, Marybeth of McCook Lake, S.D.; three daughters, Chris E. Rasmussen and husband, Ron of McCook Lake, Jackie A. Young and husband, Mike of Sioux City, and Julie Buckley and husband, Mike of Hornick, Iowa; sister, Sandy DeVries and husband, Junior of Sioux City; sister-in-law, Bonnie Keegan of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Scott Keegan; two brothers, James D. Keegan and wife, Betty and Paul "Ted" Keegan; and one sister, Darlene Hubert and husband, Richard.
