SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Genevieve Ruth Karrer, 89, of South Sioux City died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Matneys Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Genevieve was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Sioux City, to John P. and Ann C. (Uthe) Jarman. She graduated from Central High School.
She married Arnold William Karrer on March 4, 1939, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1978. Genevieve owned and operated the Dairy Queen on the corner of Highway 75 and Leech Avenue below Wilson Trailer for 27 years.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Genevieve loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Donald and his wife, Judy of Sioux City; two brothers, Wallace and his wife, Sue of Colorado Springs, Colo., and John and his wife, Madonna of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Don W. and his wife, Cindy and Nick W. and his wife, Katy; five great-grandchildren, Kramer, Brenna, William, Lilly and Chad; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Betty Lou; three sons, as infants; twin brothers, Ronald and Donald; and three sisters, Alice, Ann and Christine.
Memorials may be given to the Monsignor Lafferty Foundation of Bishop Heelan High School or the Blessed Sacrament Adopt-A-Student Program.
