John Jurich, 71 of Yankton, SD passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010 from a battle with cancer at a Sioux City Hospital. Johns family will be memorializing him at a later date in Montana. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
John was born on September 22, 1938 in St. Paul, Minnesota the son of Steve and Milka (Perkovic) Jurich. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp. John was a General Manager in the rail car maintenance business. Johns greatest love was the outdoors. He loved to go into the mountains where no one could reach him and go fishing. He also enjoyed wintering in New Mexico and Louisiana. He was an avid sports fan who loved football. He loved to travel and the freedom to come and go as he pleased.
He is survived by his 2 daughters Amy Jurich and Quinn Gallaugher; 2 grandchildren Brittany Jurich and Gregory Jurich all of Sioux City; 2 sisters Anna Jurich Sofier of Phoenix, AZ, Pauline Harris of North Sioux City, SD; and 4 nieces Dawn, Daphane, Stephanie and Amanda and a nephew Mike.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Stella.
