Frank Floyd Jones, 82, of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at his home in Sioux City. Upon his request the body has been cremated. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. a vigil service will then begin at 7:00 p.m. all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Reverend James Bruch celebrating. Entombment with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Frank was born February 26, 1924 to David and Esther (Campbell) Jones in Santee, Nebraska. He grew up and attended school in Santee. After school he moved to Sioux City to work. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1943 during W.W.II. Frank was honorably discharged 1945. On February 12, 1946, he married Gladys Alvarez at the Cathedral of The Epiphany in Sioux City. Frank worked at numerous packinghouses in Sioux City but retired from Armor after 35 years. Frank was a member of the American Legion Monahan Post #64 in Sioux City and also St. Boniface Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and of course his grandchildren.
Frank is survived by his wife of 60 years Gladys: 2 sons Richard Jones and his special friend Theresa Leander of Sioux City, IA: and Louis Jones and wife Debbie of Detroit Lakes, MN: 5 grandchildren and 6 great, grandchildren.
His parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother preceded him in death.
