W Rob Johnson Johnson

W. Rob Johnson, 37, of Sloan passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at his residence.

Per his wishes, the body was cremated. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Rob was born Jan. 11, 1971, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Gus Johnson and Kathie Menin. He graduated from Westwood High School in 1989. He was a farmer.

He loved the outdoors and nature. He spent much of his time "playing in the dirt". He also enjoyed farming, hunting mushrooms and watching his boys play sports. He will be remembered as a loving son, father, brother, nephew and a good friend to many.

Survivors include his father, Gus (Rose) Johnson of Bend, Ore.; his mother, Kathie Menin and her significant other, Allen Littles of Sioux City; his fiancee, Jennifer Corbin and her four sons, Dylan, Nolan, Caleb and Aaron; a brother and two sisters, Stacie (Todd) Anderson of Le Mars, Iowa, Stephanie (Bill) Vaul of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Joshua (Malarie) Johnson stationed in Okinawa, Japan; maternal grandfather, Miller Nickolisen; paternal grandmother, Mariellen Johnson; aunts and uncles, Darwin (Brenda) Nickolisen, Karla (David) Lange, Tricia (Doug) Durst, Amy (Dennis) O'Neal, Georgie (Mike) Opitz, Helen Kelley, David Johnson and Tom (Mary) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Doris Nickolisen; paternal grandfather, Warren Johnson; and two cousins, Rachel and Nicholas Lange.

Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Wiggs, Bobby Blake, Joe Penny, Pat Shattuck, Kevin Braun, Dylan Corbin, Nolan Corbin, Caleb Corbin and Aaron Corbin.

In lieu of flowers, the educational memorial will be set up for his boys, Dylan, Nolan, Caleb and Aaron.
