Donald W. Johnson, 81, of Sioux City died Tuesday. Sept. 4, 2007, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Donald was born March 10, 1926, in Geddes, S.D., the son of Lester and Mabel Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the European Theater.

He married JoAnne J. Hall on April 15, 1947, in Sioux City. She died March 12, 2004, in Sioux City. He was a longtime Sioux City resident and retired from Condon Motor Co. after 48 years.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He was an avid gardener, who enjoyed watching birds and squirrels, reading and time spent as a mechanic in his garage.

Survivors include four sons, Jeff Johnson and his wife, Sally of Sioux City, Douglas Johnson and his wife, Beverly of Hereford, Ariz., Bill Johnson and his wife, Karla of Sandwich, Ill., and Kevin Johnson and his friend, Penny Parker of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren, Heather Holmes, Brandon Rogers, Jason Johnson, Amber Pendergast, Shanna Johnson, Mandy Freese, Jessica Korth, Holly Johnson, Chad Johnson, Christina Parker and Brady Parker; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Norman and Dale.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
