Warren Jensen, 86, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2007 at his residence with his wife by his side. A funeral service will then be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. also at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Warren was born Oct. 10, 1920, to Holger E. and Theresa (Teschke) Jensen in Sioux City. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools, graduating from Central High School in 1938.
Shortly after high school, he began working at United Wholesalers as an automotive machinist. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to Sioux City and resumed his work at United Wholesalers.
On Jan. 30, 1945, he married Rose Mason in Sioux City, and they lived here their entire lives.
Warren enjoyed duck and pheasant hunting. He always said he wanted to build a house and an airboat, of which he did both. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the NRA.
Survivors include his wife, Rose of Sioux City; two daughters, Lynn Kroesen of Bethany Beach, Del., and Kay Cook and her husband, Gary, of Kennard, Neb.; two grandchildren, Russell Cook and Emily Dabney; five great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Robert and Barbara Jensen of Sioux City; and two sisters, Virginia Asmussen and Dorothy Stanek and her husband, John, both of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Jim Kroesen; a brother, Harold Jensen; a brother-in-law, Herrold Asmussen; a sister-in-law, Virginia Jensen; and a nephew, Roger Jensen.
