Emma E. Jensen, 83, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, July 27,2006 at Countryside Retirement Home. Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2006 from 3-5 p.m. with a prayer service to begin at 4:30 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (formerly Nelson ~ Berger Morningside Chapel). Visitation will resume on Monday from 9 a.m. until 12:00 Noon. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2006 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Reverend Russ Senstad officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Siouxland.
Emma was born on November 15, 1922 in Sac County, Iowa to Fred and Albertena (Kreft) Ausborn. She was baptized and confirmed in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. Emma grew up and attended rural school and graduated from the Calhoun County High School. On May 5, 1946 she married Grant L. Jensen at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Emma worked at Johnson Biscuit Company until their son Leonard was welcomed into the family. Emma then became a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a scout leader and enjoyed many community activities. Like her late husband, Grant, she enjoyed the Sioux City Camera Club and won several awards for her work. Emma was also an avid lover of small dogs and owned and cared for one till she entered Countryside. Emma and Grant lived in the same house for 50 years, a home which Grant help build. She was a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of which she was a member of L.O.R.L.(Ladies of Redeemer Lutheran) and the Altar Guild.
Survivors include her son: Leonard and wife LeeAnn Jensen of Rockville,MD: 3 grandsons: Joshua, Jacob and Michael Jensen.1 great grandchild, 1 sister: Rose Nelson of Sioux City, IA: 1 brother: Donald Ausborn of Lytton, IA: and numerous nieces and nephew and great nieces and great nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband Grant on September 6, 1993, an infant brother, Raymond, two brothers, Fred and Eddie Ausborn and one sister, Margaret Nehman.
