SIOUX CITY -- Ralph John Thomas Jansen, 88, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery, rural Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Ralph was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Correctionville, Iowa, the son of Martin and Annie (Florke) Jansen. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he married Beatrice on Dec. 22, 1945.
Business was Ralph's passion. He was a successful self-made man, who was loved and respected by all. He was a very caring and generous man.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice; two daughters, Jeanette Jansen Huff and her husband, Jim of Dallas, Texas, and Deborah Jansen of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two brothers, Pete and Chris Jansen, both of Sioux City; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a sister.
Pallbearers will be Jason "J.J." Huff, Pete Jansen, Chris Jansen, Jim Huff, Richard Grip and John Boden.
