A. Jack Jamgotch, 80, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Following cremation, there will be a Celebration of Life visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Jack was born June 1, 1926, in Minneapolis, the son of H.A. and Ella (Crane) Jamgotch. He moved to Sioux City with his family as a small child. He graduated from Central High School. He later attended the University of South Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Joanne Gilligan on Sept. 5, 1953, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2001 in Sioux City. He owned and operated Jamgotch Rug Company for several years. More recently, he spent many years as a stockbroker with Piper-Jaffrey.
He was an avid golfer. He enjoyed building model airplanes and especially loved spending time at his home on Lake Okoboji.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Jim Gubbels and Sandy and Don Gregersen, all of Reno, Nev.; a brother, Ed Jamgotch of Cedar Springs, Mich.; three grandchildren, Dan Gubbels, Jackie and her husband, Nick Royle and Bobby Gubbels, all of Reno, Nev.; five nieces, Ebbie and her husband, Tim Gubbels of Laurel, Neb., Carol and her husband, Jeff Cohen of California, Cathy and her husband, David Brienzo of Sioux City, Nancy and her husband, Mike Brienzo of Lincoln, Neb., and Shannon Jamgotch; and a nephew, Paul Jamgotch.
He was preceded in death by an aunt, Evelyn Kyle.
