Mary Lyn Jacobson, 84, of Sergeant Bluff, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mary Lyn was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Sioux City, the daughter of James Edward and Martha (Steckler) Dore. She graduated from Central High School.
She married Jerry Payne. To this union, a son, Danny was born. She later married Herbert D. Jacobson on June 25, 1949. To this union, a son, David was born. In her earlier years, Mary Lyn worked at Toller Drug Store. Later, she worked for many years for Lloyd Hardy Real Estate.
She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert of Sergeant Bluff; a son, David and his wife, Cynthia of Mountain View, Calif.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Bordewick of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Danny; two sisters, Constance Bateman and Le Myers Baumsten; and a brother, Lawrence Bateman.
