Hilda A. Iverson, 89, of Sioux City died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center following a brief illness.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Hilda was born April 25, 1918, on a farm near Minden, Iowa, the daughter of Wenzel and Anna (Beck) Biederman. She grew up in the Neola and Minden, Iowa area and attended country school. She moved to Harlan, Iowa, then to Sioux City in 1941.
She married Roy Iverson on May 8, 1943, in New York City. He died Feb. 11, 1977, in Sioux City. She worked at Swift and Company, then the couple owned and operated Red's Coffee Pot for 22 years. She worked for Broyhill Company in Dakota City, then in concessions at the Sioux City Auditorium and the IBP Ice Center.
She had been a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Janice and Richard Johnson of Wakefield, Neb., and Judy Hallisey and Barry Brunson of Cadiz, Ky.; two sisters, Alda Price and Phyllis Delph, both of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three grandchildren, Leigh Smith and Nicole and Brad Hallisey; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Gertrude Thies, Edith Harmsen and Elizabeth Christensen; and six brothers, Joseph, Robert, Henry, Donald, Edward and Wenzel Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
