Jimmy William Hurley, 80, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Jimmy was born March 24, 1926, in Carroll, Neb., the son of Herman and Eva (Bigelow) Hurley. He attended schools in the Ponca, Neb., area. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving in the Marshall Islands.
He married Lenora Bottolfson on Nov. 26, 1954, in Elk Point, S.D. He drove for various trucking firms in the Siouxland area. He owned and operated Jackson Transfer and Delivery for 10 years.
He enjoyed family time, gardening, trains, vintage cars and machinery. He was a member of the Eagles Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Lenora (Bottolfson) Hurley of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Penny and Forrest Tucker of Elk Point and Shirley and Jerry Cardwell of Hastings, Minn.; two sisters, Jane and her husband, Joe Meyers, and Eva Kennedy, all of Sioux City; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and four sisters.
