Robert A. Humphrey

Robert A. "Bob" Humphrey, 91, of Sioux City passed away Monday, April 9, 2007, at his residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Spaulding officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Bob was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Geddes, S.D., the son of Frank and Edna (Larsen) Humphrey. He grew up in South Dakota, then moved to Sioux City with his family, where he graduated from East High School. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He married Alice M. Melheim on Sept. 9, 1953, in Sioux City. He worked for various commission firms at the Sioux City Stockyards and retired from Johnson-Erwin.

He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church and Morningside Masonic Lodge 615. He loved to hunt and fish. He especially loved the times he spent with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Humphrey; two sons and their wives and five granddaughters, David Humphrey and Peg Carver of Sammamish, Wash. and their children, Lauren and Emily Humphrey, and Mark and Nancy Humphrey of Nashville, Tenn., and their children, Kate, Jenny and Ellen Humphrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Fred Humphrey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of Siouxland.
