Cynthia Hughes, 63, of Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at a local hospital. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2008 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008 also at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Roger Madden officiating. Burial will follow at Logan Park Cemetery.
Cynthia was born to Paul and Jean Jones on Dec. 28, 1944 in Norfolk, Neb. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Central High School with the class of 1963. The activities she participated in included Friendship Club, Spanish and Latin Club, Future Nurses of America, Centralettes and the National Honor Society. She attended Briar Cliff College and Morningside College. She worked as a nurses aid and volunteered at many local hospitals and nursing homes.
On Nov. 25, 1972, she was united in marriage to Don Hughes.
She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She also enjoyed the outdoors, baking, gardening and loved her pet cats. Her other favorites included the color pink, Elvis and the magic of Christmas.
She loved all people and respected everyone. Her infectious laugh was loved by many. She was an extremely generous individual with her possessions and her love. She had a strong unwavering faith and prayed daily for her parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, grandniece and grandnephews.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Don Hughes; her parents, Jean and Paul Jones Jr. of Sioux City; her sisters, Cathleen Glinton, Carol Woodley and Cherri Woodley, all of Colorado; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Woodley Kellogg, Paul Woodley, Jacquelynn Woodley, Andrea Woodley Dratch, Cameron Glinton, Justin Woodley, Clayton Glinton, Curt Glinton and Averri Woodley; a grandniece, Ellarie; and grandnephews, Jack, Greg, Brady, Ryan and Michael.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Dratch, Cameron Glinton, Stewart Hartman, Randy Perkins, Justin Woodley, Michael Woodley, Patrick Woodley and Tim Jones.
