Helen K. Houchins, 89, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Mrs. Houchins was born June 15, 1917, in Egan, S.D., the daughter of Laurence and Mary (Lubber) Keller.
She married Floyd R. Houchins on June 15, 1938, in Sheldon, Iowa. He died May 6, 1988 in Sioux City.
She was a member of the Hawthorne Club, Leeds Nature Study Club and the Order of the Eastern Star Azure Chapter. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Robert T. Dingman, Bradley D. Dingman and Leafa R. Hubbert; a son-in-law, Paul Smith of Bloomington, Minn.; and a sister, Lucille of Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcia Smith who died Aug. 25, 2006.
