Wanda L. Hollingshead

Wanda L. Hollingshead, 75, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at Countryside Retirement Home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, 822 Jennings St., with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Private family graveside services will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Wanda was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Ira and Lucinda (Jeffries) Rector. She grew up in the Washta and Quimby, Iowa, area.

She married Fred B. Hollingshead on Nev. 25, 1950. He died Jan. 12, 1983 in Sioux City. The couple moved to Sioux City from their home in Mapleton, Iowa. She worked for Norwest Bank. After her husband's death, she moved back to Washta and worked for the county Extension office in Cherokee. She recently returned to Sioux City.

The couple belonged to the Woodbury Woodys Camping Club. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and visiting with her family and friends.

Survivors include four children, Fred W. Hollingshead of Sioux City, Jann and her husband, Tim Flynn of Milliken, Colo., Steve Hollingshead and his wife, Colleen of Mesa, Ariz., and Lori Hollingshead of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Hollingshead of Sioux City; a sister, Lenora Tilton of Salt Lake City, Utah; 11 grandchildren, Freddie, Brett, Abbey, Katie, Spencer, Megan, Brody, Mark, Stevie, Tami and Danielle; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, John; an infant daughter, Rhonda; and several brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
