John J. Holincheck

John J. "Butch" Holincheck, 63, of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., after a good fight from complications of heart surgery.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Rabbi Guy Greene of Congregation Beth Shalom in Sioux City, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

John was born Jan. 3, 1944, in Sioux City, to John and Charlotte (Martin) Holincheck. He attended St. Boniface Grade School, Heelan High School and then graduated from Central High School. He attended Morningside College and then moved to Washington, D.C., and attended the University of Maryland.

He married his high school sweetheart, whom he had been with since Aug. 8, 1987. John worked as executive vice president of operations for the May Department Stores from 1967 to 1984. In 1984, he became president of Heartland Cafes Inc., located in Houston, Dallas, St. Louis, Kansas City and Denver. In 1992, John created J&H Trucking, which operated until 2001. In 2002, he was owner/operator of Home Movies & More and Holincheck Legal Video. John was a certified legal video specialist and a member of the National Court Reporters Association.

He enjoyed playing golf and followed all sports. He enjoyed the Internet, news and politics. John was loved by all and was a great husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.

Survivors include his wife, Janet of Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter, Rachel Chahal and her husband, Harrison of Los Angeles, Calif.; a son, Jim Holincheck and his wife, Cynthia of Chicago, Ill.; his father, John Holincheck of Sioux City; a stepdaughter, Stacey Moulton and her husband, Scott of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Mike Holincheck of Fairfax, Va.; a sister, Shirley Nichols of Sioux City; and three grandchildren, Tristan, Taylor and Samantha.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Holincheck; and two sisters, Sonia Rowland and Paulette Smith.

Pallbearers will be Harrison Chahal, Scott Moulton, Mike Holincheck, Jim Slattery, Denny Conway and Jim Holincheck.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the University of Kansas Hospital, Center for Advanced Heart Care, Kansas University Endowment, in memory of John Holincheck, 2330 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Suite 302, Westwood, KS 66205.
