Al L. Hogancamp, 71, of Sioux City died Friday, March 13, 2009 at a local hospital. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2009, from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will follow at Onawa City Cemetery.
Al was born on May 27, 1937, in Logan, Iowa to Roy and Josephine (Hughes) Hogan camp. He grew up in the Onawa area and graduated from Onawa High School. After high school he enlisted into the U.S. Army but was medically discharged a short time later.
Al married Patsy Nielsen on June 25, 1959, in Fort Riley, Kansas. After their marriage the couple moved to Sioux City.
Al worked at Robb-Ross Foods for over 25 years then at Johnson Biscuit then he went to Farmland, where he was force to retire because of a medical disability.
He enjoyed gambling, working with his hands doing yard work and home improvements.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Hogancamp, son, Kevin Hogancamp and his fianc Ginny Miller, daughter, Victoria Johnson and a brother Stanley Hill all of Sioux City.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Rosie Kobold and June Hill.
