Danny J. Hockett, 55, of Sioux City passed away peacefully at his home Monday June 25, 2007 with his wife and family by his side. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Danny was born June 7, 1952 in Sioux City the son of Francis and Dorothy (Morehead0 Hockett. Danny graduated from Central High School. He worked as a cement finisher. He married Jane Adams on July 3, 1998. They started their lives together on January 19, 1991. He was a wonderful husband. He was also a loving and fun father to his two boys, Danny Joe Hockett II and Bobby Garrod. He liked fishing, loved to play nickels, and playing cribbage with his father-in-law Keith Adams. Dan had a soft spot for kids and animals. He had the heart of a cowboy and the spirit of a treasure hunter. If a mans wealth is measured by the goodness in his friends, Dan was a wealthy man. Everyone who knew him was blessed to have been loved by him. He is survived by his wife Jane Hockett of Sioux City, son Danny Joe Hockett II and fianc Jennifer Kazan, step-son Bobby Garrod, grandson Draen Garrod, all of Colorado Springs, CO; brother Gary Gomez of Sioux City, 2 sisters Connie Balius of Eden Praire, MN; and Judy Sheffer and husband Chuck Jordan of Sioux City; 2 sister-in-laws Jenny and husband Art Abraham of Sioux City and Julie and husband Mike Martin of Sioux City; father-in-law Keith Adams of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Debbi Leffler, sister-in-law Linda Gomez, and a mother-in-law Dorothy Adams. Danny is missed already. Memorials may be made to the family.
