Marion R. Hobbs, 69, of Sioux City died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Marion R. Hobbs was born Jan. 5, 1939, in Ravinia, S.D., the son of David E. and Anne (Sweeney) Hobbs. He was part of the Heelan High School class of 1957. He served in the U.S. Air Force from July 3, 1957 to Dec. 24, 1958.

He married Judith "Judy" Hegardy in November 1956 in South Sioux City. He worked for Sioux Plating for 10 years. He then drove truck for 10 years. He was then employed for 10 years with Roto Rooter and retired in 2000. He was then employed with Jim Stanton J.F. Company.

He coached Little League and Legion baseball and Sioux Plating softball team. He was a member of Hawkeye League on Thursday's at Hidden Acres and Tuesday Evening League.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Hobbs; two daughters and their husbands, Lori and Howard Buckley of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Lynne and Doug Riordan of Polk City, Iowa; three sons and their wives, Scott and Peggy Hobbs of Sergeant Bluff, David and Dawn Hobbs of Sioux City and Brian and Ann Hobbs of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; six brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leland Hobbs. Special thank you to Hospice of Siouxland.
