David Hiserote

David Hiserote of Sioux City went home to be with his Lord, with his family close by his side, right before church time Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Mike Ybarra officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery, Homer, Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave.

David Hiserote was born April 18 in Nebraska to Millard and Violet (Moss) Hiserote. He was raised and went to school in Winnebago, Neb.

He married the love of his life, Sharon Lundquist, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, on Nov. 2, 1963. They made Cherokee, Iowa, and Sioux City their homes with their children. He loved his wife, who was his angel and was very proud of his children and many grandchildren.

He was a licensed nursing administrator and owned a nursing home in Cherokee for many years. He had rental properties and was known for being very generous and kind to those in need. He worked hard to be honest in his business and always saw the best in people. He loved the people he cared for and socializing with his friends at his trailer park.

He was a lifelong member of Assembly of God Church and served on the board in Storm Lake, Iowa, and at Morningside Assembly in Sioux City. He loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, with all his heart. His favorite book in the Bible was Psalms. He read and prayed it everyday. He prayed endlessly for his family. He loved to hunt and fish and take family trips to Colorado every summer. He always had a positive attitude and often said, "God doesn't make junk" and "What's the good word?" His humor and spunky personality often kept his doctors on their toes. He enjoyed singing and watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Sioux City; their three children and families, Daniel and Ginger Hiserote (Daniel Jr., Darcy, Dustin, Dillon, Debi, Donie, Danita and Daisy) of Sergeant Bluff, James Hiserote of Sioux City and Sue Ann and Joe Hardin (Mason and Joelle) of Sioux City; his son, David Jr., who lives with his family in Texas; four brothers and their spouses, Walter and Ruth Hiserote, Charles and Karen Hiserote, Paul and Pauline Hiserote and Tim Hiserote; and a sister, Maxine Strong.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters, Lillie Matney, Luella Rich, Mildred Hiserote and May Rose.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Daniel, Dustin and Dillon Hiserote and Ed Matney Jr., Gerald Hiserote, Garry Comstock Sr., Richard Rembe and Henry Tordoff. Honorary pallbearers will be his family, Walter Hiserote, Ed Matney Sr., and Joe and Mason Hardin.
