SIOUX CITY -- Mary Hickson, 95, of Sioux City died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Sunrise Retirement Community.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Werley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
Mary was born May 31, 1915, in Sioux City, the daughter of Ike and Mary (Chidu) Simon. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools.
She married Edward Hickson Sr. on Nov. 24, 1943, in Sioux City. He died in 1995. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident.
Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and baking. The most important part of her life was her family.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Hickson Jr. of Sergeant Bluff, and Ted Hickson and his wife, Joyce of Sergeant Bluff; two sisters, Jennie Phelps of Phoenix, Ariz., and Joan Sweeney and her husband, Jim of Sioux City; a brother, Joseph Simon and his wife, Marcia of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Eric and Ryan McCoy and Tyler, Shane and Larissa Hickson; and two great-grandchildren, Nolan and Hailea McCoy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; nine brothers and sisters; and several nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ryan McCoy, Tyler, Shane, Larissa and Robert Hickson, and Doug Dickson.
