Charles "Chuck" Herfel, 50, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 6, 2007, at his residence.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. The family requests that everyone attending the funeral dress casually. Charles was born Dec. 5, 1956, in Sioux City, to Harlan and Mary Virginia (Studley) Herfel.
He married Linda (Ayers) Achuff. Charles worked for Herfel's Phillips 66 Gas Station for 25 years and as a City-Wide Collection driver.
He was an avid fan of NASCAR and golf, and he loved spending time with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Herfel of Sioux City; his father, Harlan Herfel of Sioux City; a son, Charles and his wife, Jolene Achuff of Sioux City; daughters, Dawn and her husband, Jeremy Steward and Heather and her husband, John Porterfield, all of Sioux City; brothers, Michael Herfel, Steven Herfel and Paul and his wife, Christine Herfel, all of Sioux City; a sister, Sandy and her husband, Carl Christensen of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Quinton, Kylee, Bailey, Konner and Mallory.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Herfel.
Pallbearers will be Mike Herfel, Paul Herfel, Steve Herfel, Adam Herfel, John Porterfield, Terry Baxter, Jeff Minor and A.J. Baier.
Memorials may be made in Chuck's name to the family.
