SIOUX CITY -- Madeline A. Hazard, 85, of Sioux City died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at a local hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Madeline, the daughter of Fred and Bernice (Wilhite) Mesenbrink, was born April 21, 1925, in Charter Oak, Iowa.
She loved family gatherings, especially outdoors to enjoy nature. She loved to go fishing, gardening, crosswords and playing cribbage.
She is survived by three sons, Patrick Halligan of Sioux City, Tony (JoAnn) Halligan of Sioux City and Porter Hazard and his fiancee, Sheryl Sands of Sioux City; two daughters, Marjorie (Bert) Dimig of Charter Oak, Iowa, and Robin Halligan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, David (Joan) Mesenbrink of Searchlight, Nev.; a sister, Dorothy Champ of Bennington, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Hazard; a brother, Frederick; a sister, Charlotte Heard; an infant daughter, Gloria Jean Thompson; a son, Mike Halligan; and two great-grandchildren, Jamie and Jason Ortner.
