Florence I. Harvey

Florence I. Harvey, 91, of Sioux City, formerly of Sheyenne, N.D., passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center following a brief illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Evans Funeral Home in New Rockford, N.D., with the Rev. Lori Broschat of United Methodist Church in New Rockford, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Sheyenne, N.D. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Florence was born July 5, 1915, in Minneaukan, N.D., the daughter of Sheridan Lester and Maude Lillian (Rice) Burgess Sr.

She married John M. Harvey on Nov. 14, 1951, in New Rockford, N.D. The couple lived on a farm near Sheyenne for many years. John preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1978, in Sioux Falls, S.D. In 1985, she moved to Sioux City to be closer to her children.

She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Sheyenne and the Methodist Ladies Aid. She also had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3696 since 1954.

Survivors include a son and his wife, David and Jean Olson of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Virginia and Rueben Erdmann of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Scott Olson of Sioux City, Mitzi and her husband, John Dillingham of Minneapolis, Steven Olson and his wife, Dana of Omaha, Debra and her husband, Dennis Hamilton of Minneapolis, Gerald Berglund and his wife, Tammy of Sioux City and Todd Erdmann and his wife, Sherry of Washta, Iowa; 14 great-grandchildren, Jason Wainwright of New Hope, Minn., Tiffany Plummer-Dunn of Minneapolis, Julian Hamilton serving in the U.S. Navy stationed at Jacksonville, Fla., Lana Hamilton of New Hope, Minn., Telana Olson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Ona Olson of Kingsley, Iowa, Michael Olson of Omaha, Nicholas Olson of Omaha, Madeline Dillingham of Minneapolis, Luke Dillingham of Minneapolis, Teresa Derochie of Sioux City, Trisha Derochie of Sioux City, Richie Derochie of Sioux City and Jesse Hare of Sioux City; nine great-great-grandchildren; and

several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Olson; two brothers, Isaac Burgess and Sheridan Burgess Jr.; three sisters, Marian Sarah Riffe, Mabel Logan and Bessie Lund; and a great-granddaughter in infancy, Emily Dillingham.

Pallbearers will be Lee Lund, David Olson, Joe Teel, Gerald Berglund and Todd Erdmann.
