Robert A. "Rob" Harrison Jr., 53, of Sioux City passed away suddenly from complications due to diabetes Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at his residence.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, 995 Sioux Point Rd., in Dakota Dunes, with the Rev. Bob Lacey officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Rob was born Sept. 14, 1956, in Grand Island, Neb., to Robert A. and Barbara (Felber) Harrison Sr. Rob graduated from Sioux City North High School in 1974. He owned and operated Pro Computer Service.
Rob was a 20-plus year member of the recovery community. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 77, Siouxland NE Moose Lodge 2211 and served as webmaster for several organizations. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing the saxophone, watching TV and movies (especially SciFi), as well as playing Monopoly with his family. A very caring and loving man, Rob was dedicated to his family and friends. He was generous with his time and talents, helping anyone in need.
He is survived by three children, daughter, Ivy Harrison of Reno, Nev., sons, Kepler Harrison of Reno and Lucas Harrison of Lincoln, Neb.; a sister, Pam (Mike) Pottebaum of Dakota Dunes; three nieces, Katherine (Josh) Wren of Gainesville, Va., Christina Pottebaum of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Caroline Pottebaum of Chicago; a grandnephew, Mark, and a grandniece, Annelise Wren; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Mark Gant, Jim Frost, Jeff Conner, Scott Putney, Steve Martin and Sean Donahue.
