Kenneth E. Harris

Kenneth Edward Harris, 75, of Sioux City went on a fishing trip with God on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, after battling a few months with cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Tess Panamarow officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and 7 p.m. prayer service, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Kenneth was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Hubbard, Neb., to Herbert and Faye Harris.

Kenneth met Marilyn Jean Bauerly in 1950. They joined together in unity on Dec. 27, 1951, in Sioux City. He worked at Concrete Pipe and Machinery, Raskin Pack and various packing houses before owning Harris Construction from 1980 to the late 1990s, when he retired.

He was a member of River City Anglers and Sioux City Eagles Club. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing with family and friends. He loved teaching his kids and grandkids how to hunt, fish, camp, drive and more.

Loved ones left to cherish his memory include his wife of many years, Marilyn Harris of Sioux City; six children, two girls, Janice Weber and Debra Harris, both of Sioux City, four boys, Richard Harris Sr, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Douglas and his wife, Laura Harris of Sergeant Bluff, Kelly and his wife, Pam Harris of Sioux City, and Daniel Harris of Sioux City; five grandkids, Amanda El-Shabazz, Brett Harris, Billie Jo and her husband, Kasey Willson, all of Sioux City, Mark Harris of Doon, Iowa, and Richard Jr and his wife, Deb of Doon; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo and his wife, Frannie Harris of Sioux City; a sister, Delores Haddad; a close uncle, Herman Besch of Sioux City; a very special nephew, Mick and his wife, Marchell Matney of South Sioux City; a very special friend, Hap Henderson of Oklahoma; and many other close family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Faye Harris; his parents-in-law, Allison and Viola Bauerly; and an infant daughter, JoDean Kay Harris.

Pallbearers will be Ray Swenson, Terry Swenson, Les Levin, Bain Lindon, Jim Julius and Marvin Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
