Geraldine H. "Gerry" (Richter) Harbeck, 78, of Sioux City passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at her residence following an illness with cancer.
Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Private graveside services will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary service, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Gerry was born Jan. 26, 1930, in Sioux City, the daughter of Lawrence B. and Helen J. (Meyer) Richter. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident.
She married Don Harbeck on Oct. 22, 1949, in Sioux City. Prior to her marriage, she worked in the office at Arthur Sanford Co. and Bekins.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles, but most of all, she loved her family.
Survivors include her husband, Don; four children and their spouses, Dan and Alana Harbeck of Idaho Springs, Colo., Kathy and Gene Salmon of Sioux City, Dave and Jo Harbeck of Sioux City and Brad and Kim Harbeck of Lynnwood, Wash.; two sisters, Lois Nichols of Sioux City and Dolores and her husband, Derrill Townley of Sioux City; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leon and Barb Harbeck of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Tim Harbeck and his wife, Kirsten, Brenna Harbeck, Paula, Tony and Mike Salmon, Kenna, Tyler and Lindsey Harbeck and Kelli Harbeck; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in her name to Hospice of Siouxland.
