Cathy was born Jan. 8, 1952, in Sioux City, the daughter of Wilmer and Mary Catherine (Ryder) June. She was raised one block from her church and schools. She received all of her sacraments from the Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church. She attended Heelan High School and graduated with the class of 1970. She was a 1974 graduate of the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.

Cathy married James L. Hanson on Aug. 11, 1973, in Sioux City. For the first five years of her children's lives, she was a stay at home mom. After her children were in school, she worked for Toy National Bank as a computer programmer. When Toy Bank closed, she went to work for the Sioux City Community School District as a staff member at North High School for 20 years.

She was a member of Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church. She volunteered much of her time to Pi Beta Phi Sorority, the Girl Scouts and Epiphany Church. Her quiet times were spent with her family and friends. She truly enjoyed reading and gardening. After her children left the house, she renewed her love of motorcycle riding. She enjoyed sitting on the back of her husband's Harley, traveling through the U.S. or just day rides with I.P.M.C. or H.O.G.

Survivors include her husband, James L. Hanson of Sioux City; two children, Anna Catherine "Katie" (Hanson) Aspleaf and her husband, Ryan of Sioux City and Ben Hanson of Houston, Texas; her mother, Mary Catherine June of Sioux City; a sister, Mary Frances "Francy" June of North Sioux City; and two wonderful grandchildren, Brianna Kathleen and Corben James Aspleaf.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wilmer June.

Pallbearers will be Bob Wright, Jim Wright, Matt Wright, Greg England, Bill England and Tim Kacena.

The family would like to give special thanks to Matney Colonial Manor in South Sioux City and Hospice of Siouxland.
