HINTON, Iowa -- Mary E. Hansen, 63, of Hinton went to be home with her Lord on Sunday, April 24, 2011.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Evangelical Free Church, with the Rev. Kevin Miller officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mary was born in Sioux City on Sept. 6, 1947, the daughter of H.T. and Esther (Peterson) Hoklin. She spent her first six years in Elk Point, S.D., before moving to Sioux City. She graduated from Central High School in 1965. Mary married Gene G. Hansen on July 10, 1976, in Sioux City. After their wedding, the couple made their home in Hinton.
Mary was a homemaker while her only daughter was growing up. She most recently worked for Randall's and Consumers Supply.
She enjoyed gardening, shopping and reading. She loved spending time with her family, but her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother.
She volunteered her time at both the Sioux City Gospel Mission and Hinton Community School. She was an active member of First Evangelical Free Church.
Mary is survived by her husband, Gene of Hinton; one stepson, Rick (Patty) Hansen of Hinton; one daughter, Kristen (Albert) Perez of Sioux City City; one brother, Gary (Connie) Hoklin of Sioux City; one sister, Audrey (Pat) Hansel of Sioux City; one granddaughter, Elliana; and two stepgranddduaghters, Keri and Kayla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother, Larry.
