Deloris Jane Hansen

Deloris Jane Hansen, 80, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, April 23, 2007, at Lakes Regional Hospital in Spirit Lake following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Deloris was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Canby, Minn., the daughter of Alfred and Ella (Baxter) Newton.

She married Manford Peter Hansen on Sept. 6, 1951, in Minnesota. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1981, in Sioux City. She was employed in housekeeping at Matney's Nursing and Rehab Center in the Westside of Sioux City.

She was of the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed playing bingo and going camping.

Survivors include three sons, Harold (Nancy) Hansen of Brown Valley, Minn., Harvey Hansen of Sioux City and Russell (Barbara) Hansen of Newton, Kan.; four daughters, Pearl (Joel) Harrison of Sioux City, Maxine (Thomas) Webster of Innman, Kan., Cathy (Donald) Watterson of Sioux City and Connie Zeitler of Spirit Lake, Iowa; 26 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; a brother, Conrad Newton of Montana; and a sister, Sylvia (LaClair) Parrow of Bear Creek, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Manford Hansen; four brothers, Lester, Ludvick, Edward and Merlin Newton; a granddaughter, Pam Hansen; and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Hansen.

Pallbearers will be Harold, Kenny, Lee and Brent Hansen, Harold Shear and Gary Schafer. Honorary pallbearer will be Tim Schultz.
