Brent L. Hansen, 55, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a time of remembrance at 7:30 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Brent was born Aug. 10, 1951, in Sioux City, son of Dwight and Lorene (Sorensen) Hansen. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Schools. He graduated from Central High School in 1969 and from Morningside College in 1973.

He married Marilyn Olson on May 16, 1981, in Sioux City. Brent worked for Tainter Bros., Prudential Insurance and was currently employed as a financial adviser for Thrivent Financial.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church for more than 50 years and was very active in the church. He taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and had served as Church Council president. Brent enjoyed music and played the violin and organ. He also enjoyed photography. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Sioux City; a daughter, Heather of Sioux City; his mother, Lorene Hansen of Sioux City; three brothers, Robert D. Hansen of Minneapolis, Minn., Craig N. Hansen of Chanhassen, Minn. and David J. Hansen of Des Moines, Iowa; an aunt, Bernice Primm of Sioux City; an uncle, Donald Sorensen of Sequim, Wash.; three cousins, John, James and Paul Primm; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Hansen; a brother, Ronald Hansen; and an aunt, Alice Boe.

Pallbearers will be Dan Foster, Richard Pederson, Allen, Ben and Bud Hansen and Jerry Foster.

Memorials may be made to the Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
