Dennis D. Hanneman

SOLDIER, Iowa -- Dennis D. Hanneman, 52, of Soldier passed away Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at his residence.

Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place; and a memorial visitation, with family present, will take place 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel in Sioux City. A private interment will take place at a later date.

Dennis was born on April 18, 1957, in Sioux City, to Homer and Rita (Powers) Hanneman. He received his education in the Sioux City Public School system before starting his career in construction.

Dennis married Joyce Lee on April 19, 1997. He worked as a roofer for many years locally, and then worked on finer carpentry projects in the construction industry in Sioux City and Omaha. He joined the Valley Electric Company in Soldier, Iowa, five years ago, relocated to Soldier and had been a resident there until his death.

Dennis was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and camping, along with sprint car racing. A special thanks from the family to all those friends in the Soldier area.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Joyce Hanneman; a sister, Debra Mitchell and her husband David of McCook Lake, S.D.; nieces and nephews, Darcie (Mitchell) and Steve Kistner, Dallas Mitchell, Lee and Jan Carrigan and Walker and Brenda Carrigan; and father-in-law, Bryce Lee.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
